Same passports...new adventures! (#1)
After numerous trips to France (really too many to count!), Gary and I decided it was time to prove we are capable of loving a country without croissants—or surviving another rental car incident like last year. So off to England we go—where medieval YORK will let us pretend we’re in a period drama, LIVERPOOL promises a steady Beatles soundtrack (and I'm afraid we will be singing along!), and the COTSWOLDS offer cozy villages, ideal for slowing down and briefly fantasizing about never leaving. Somewhere in the middle of all this, we’ll be renting a car and bravely attempting to drive on the “wrong” side of the road, armed with memories of our French car disaster and a renewed sense of optimism. We’ll wrap things up in vibrant LONDON, tackling busy streets, historic landmarks, London theatre, and the Tube (where we’re confident we’ll get on the wrong train at least once!). For the next month, expect lots of tea, excessive apologizing, questionable navigation choices (and perhaps briefly forgetting which side of the road to drive on!), and plenty of stories we’ll be laughing about for years. It's been 26 years since we last were in England (with 3 teenage boys in tow)...I know how much Gary and I have changed in those 26 years, so we are anxious to see how much England has changed!
We will fly into London and immediately catch a train to York. After 3 full days in York, we will catch a train and head west across England to Liverpool. After 3 full days of Beatlemania we will pick up a rental car (wish us luck) and drive to the Cotswolds, where we will make Chipping Campden our home for 10 days. We then will ditch the car and head to London by train, where we will stay 10 days before heading back across the pond to return home. We have lots of day trips in the works from both the Cotswolds and London...so we really plan to see much more than just the 4 main cities in which we will be sleeping. So pour yourself a cup of tea (or a G&T!) and follow along.
Talley-Ho!
